Before getting to the video, let’s go over what we’ve learned from insiders about the Ford Focus RS that will be sold in both Europe and America. First of all, forget about FWD: The Focus RS is getting a brand-new, performance-oriented AWD system that should skew toward a 50/50 front-to-rear torque bias rather than the front-drive-oriented system currently available on Escapes and the like. This system will eventually make its way into other Ford and Lincoln products, as well.
Second, the Focus RS will get a high-output 2.3-liter EcoBoost that we’re hearing could exceed the output of the EcoBoost Mustang, which has 310 horsepower, with something like 325 ponies. You can see why AWD in this car is a good thing, and if you’re breathing heavily at this point, we don’t blame you.
Lastly, while we understand that the car will be making its auto-show debut in Geneva in March, you need to mark February 3 on your calendar: Ford’s Mike Levine (see his tweet at the bottom of this post) as well as a slate in the teaser video promise that the car will be revealed—likely in the form of photos and a few specs—on that day.
