Dealer Asking For Nearly $60k For 2016 Ford Focus RS

Strictly speaking, there's nothing illegal about dealers charging well over MSRP for a new vehicle, but it sure is a bummer for potential customers. Unfortunately, when demand far exceeds supply - as is the case with Ford's all-new Focus RS hot hatch - it's practically assured that some amount of dealer overcharging is going to occur.

Today, we found a 2016 Ford Focus RS for sale by a California dealer on eBay with a seriously bloated asking price: $57,820. That's nearly $21k over the base MSRP with destination.

Granted, the example in-question isn't a base car; it's been optioned with forged 19-inch wheels ($1,395), a power moonroof ($895), and the RS2 Package, which tosses in leather/Miko-suede seats from Recaro with built-in heating, a heated steering wheel, 8-way power adjust-ability on the drivers seat, and voice-activated navigation ($2,785). The exterior color is Shadow Black.

Even with all that equipment, this Ford Focus RS is still valued far below the amount that this dealership is asking for. Will someone pay it? Maybe, but we have a hard time imagining how anyone could justify more than $50k for any Focus - even one as capable as this.
