- 2003 Ford Focus ZX5
Years ago, I had a 2000 Ford Focus that I ran for a long time. It had something like 242,000 miles on it before the body rust got too bad and I had to sell it. I've been driving ford Fusions since then. I got a 2006 manual, and most recently a 2011 automatic, but my daughter has graduated high school and confiscated it. That left me driving my 2003 F150 every day, and I miss the 4 cylinder fuel economy.
That leads me to yesterday. I was browsing facebook marketplace and found a 2003 Focus ZX5 automatic with 152,000 miles on it for about $1300. It runs and drives nice, but has some warning lights on the dash and needs the whole rear suspension redone. I think I might have resolved the P0401 CEL with a vacuum hose that I found unplugged. I got the brake warning light to go out by cleaning the sensor in the reservoir. I even got the dead aftermarket stereo working after I got it home last night. I still have the ABS light on, and I'll be looking into that soon, but hopefully it is a good ride for a bit.
