Hey all!

My mother in-law owns a 2009 Ford Focus SE. Over the last year it's been having an issue starting, sometimes we would have to hold the key in the ignition in the run position for an extended period of time to get it to start. Well about a month ago it wouldn't turn over at all. So being as it was late at night i only had so much to work with.
Thought maybe the key cylinder was having issues in the ignition housing. After removing the cylinder i couldn't visibiliy see any issues. But i did try adding tape to it just to see if any of the metal could have been thinned away. And still wouldn't start.

I proceed to just change out the ignition switch as several people say they can go bad quite easily. Swapped out the ignition switch and still had nothing. Not a single crank or anything.

After all this my mother law ordered the while ignition housing has they had a 2012 focus that was having the same issue and the only way that got fixed was when the entire ignition housing was replaced.( I just humored them ordering the part)

So i swapped the housing at the request of my mother law and used the original key cylinder so i didn't have to program a key. Still not single crank would occur.

So after replacing all these parts i watched countless videos on troubleshooting this problem. I attempted to jump out the starter relay but all it did was crank not start, even with the key in the run position.

After seeing this i put the starter relay back and attempted to start the car via the ignition switch with a screwdriver. So with the key in the run position and turning the ignition switch with my screwdriver i was able to start the vehicle. Now per this video i watched he said it was going to be the cylinder for the key.

So today i replaced the cylinder key, correctly coded for the OEM key. And still the car won't crank or start when i turn the key. So i went back to maybe something was wrong with the wiring. Just for grins i left the key in the run position and jumped the starter relay out and the car started right up.

So I'm truly lost on what I'm missing here and why the car won't turn over via the key.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!
