Hello everyone. This is going to be a little long but I need to convey exactly what is going on.
My wife's 2005 focus was t-boned and totaled. We got a 2014 focus se hatchback. It has 118K on it. After a little while we noticed that there seems to be a problem with the tranny that was not evident when we bought the car. The issue does not happen all the time especially if the tranny has not got hot yet. It happens after you make a stop and start going again. You feel a "chatter" in the tranny for maybe 2 seconds and it stops and the car drives normally.
I took the car to a local tranny shop to have it checked out. I was told they ran a computer check on the car and all tranny items passed, no issues were shown. I was also told the little bit of "chatter" would not cause the tranny to fail. At first, they told me it was probably the "double clutch", but they didn't open the tranny and said they could not say for sure it was the double clutch. If they had removed the tranny and replaced the "clutch" it would have cost me $2400.00.
Any comments or suggestions?
