When it comes to affordable cars that can perform well on the track and also function well as a daily driver, the first name that comes to our mind is the Subaru WRX STI. The vehicle is just better than other affordable sports cars out there and this explains its huge popularity.
Next month, it will be a totally different story as Ford prepares to roll out the highly anticipated, Focus RS. The next-gen sports hatch will come out with an affordable price tag and so much power to offer. The Focus RS is powered by the 2.3L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that is sourced from the Mustang and it will be driven on the AWD system.
Stats-wise, the Focus RS looks better than the WRX STI which only has 305hp to offer from the 2.5L 4-pot engine it runs on. Then again, rumours are also suggesting that the WRX STI could get a power upgrade later this year.
If so, then it is clear that the Subaru WRX STI is meant to rival the Ford Focus RS on every front. It would be interesting to see how both cars compare when placed on the track.
