2023 hard start resulted in a back fire after a tune up in June with no issues.
Diagnosis
Milky oil and stuck filler cap
Remedy drain and flush with oil. Warm up engine for 15 min. Second oil change at 3500 with monitor for head gasket leak.
Anti freeze is clear and changed in fall of 2021.
Further investigation was that engine getting too much condensation.
Attempted to buy PVC valve from dealer parts section. They did not show a part number for that item. Informed that PVC is internal somewhere but no picture. Thanks for nothing. That was 1 year prior to back fire during first tune up.
Learned it was in the air/oil separator under the intake manifold. That's where the PVC valve is located and the fun began.
No parts available for weeks during strike. Only one dealership in Illinois had one this part in stock. Road trip.
Did a survey with several dealers on this part hardly sold .
Guess what PVC was stuck @ 98k. Changed out but not before cleaning the intake valves with fine walnut media. Intake valves looked like play dough was wrapped around the stem.
Learned a lot. Resembled engine obtained two plastic parts at junk yard since dealership did not sell separately.
Did a good job and now it runs great. Constantly monitoring pending compression test.
Vehicle still hard to start in winter even after purge valve was changed out by recall.
