To lower or not ??

So I think my car may have a broken strut. My thought is maybe I would lower it if I'm going to replace them. Are there any pros or cons ?? I don't want it slammed just lowerd a bit. Looking for suggestions on what to use and is this a good idea. A good idea as to will it scrape on every thing or is it still somewhat derivable ? Maybe pictures ??
